Announcing my latest Beginners’ Papercutting Workshop!

WHERE? A beautiful private home in Biggin village, North Yorkshire (30 minutes South of York, 35 minutes East of Leeds).

WHEN? Wednesday, 7th of March 2018, from 10am-2.30pm

Fancy trying a new craft? At this special workshop, you’ll be taught the basics of papercutting, including scalpel technique, practicing shapes, lines and curves, and understanding simple design techniques. You’ll then have the opportunity to move on to cutting a pre-designed template of your choice – choose from flowers, birds or perhaps a quote piece – so that you’ll go home with at least one completed papercut, ready for you to frame at home. The workshop will also cover more advanced techniques such as colour infills and designing your own templates.

No previous experience is needed and no drawing skill is required – just a willingness to learn and try something new!

This relaxed workshop is taking place in a luxurious, comfortable private home located in the pretty village of Biggin. The venue has ample parking. The workshop will start at 10am prompt and finish at 2.30pm and will include refreshments (drinks, biscuits and the obligatory cake!). Lunch will not be provided – please bring your own. All materials are supplied within your ticket price, including cutting mats, scalpels, blades, paper and a variety of hand-drawn papercutting templates, plus drawing materials if required. You will receive personalised tutoring as part of a small group (no larger than eight attendees) from papercutting artist Melissa Holmes, who has more than six years’ experience in this creative method.

After the event, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase tools and templates at reduced rates so that the craft can be continued at home.

Why not join me for an enjoyable day learning this addictive craft technique, indulge in some you-time and meet some like-minded creative souls? The workshop will offer a wonderful relaxed atmosphere in comfortable surroundings and is priced at just £55 per person. Don’t miss out – there are limited spaces and the earlybird prices won’t last forever!

Here’s what attendees have said about previous workshops tutored by Melissa:

“Just wanted to say I think you did a fab job with us last night! I really enjoyed it. You are excellent at what you do – very professional while being a real people person and putting everyone at ease.” (Depika)

“I thought the session was great, I felt I learned a lot in a relatively short space of time. It was nice to learn about you and the way you work and the pieces you create. I can see my attempt being a one off, but it was more about the experience rather than the finished piece. I really appreciate now the time and effort that goes into each and every cut and think you are fantastic at what you do. Oh and it should definitely come with a complimentary massage!” (Kat, who got a quick shoulder massage mid-workshop as she was struggling with her shoulders!)

I’d love to see you at the workshop if you can make it – don’t forget earlybird prices will end on 25th of February, so grab yours now!
